So in America, we apparently have something called "National Eat Dessert First" month. These are the 31 blissful days during the year when the sugar on all the grocery store shelves suddenly vanish and national happiness levels skyrocket. Each day in August has a different themed dessert--the month kicks off with national raspberry cream pie day, followed by national ice cream day, and so on and so forth. Are we seeing a completely delicious, delectable idea brewing here? I hope so!
I was wondering if any or all of the community would be interested in observing this fun national dessert month with me--everyone from all stripes, shades, shadows, and spices are, of course, welcome! My tentative idea is that anyone who's interested could sign up for one, two, or three (or more, if you're daring!) of the day themes, with an end goal that we'd have at least one post for every day of August. If you're really excited to make any particular type of dessert, or have been waiting for an excuse to try making one, why not during an official Dessert Month?
So! Any thoughts and/or intrigued participants? I'm probably going to be covering National Eat Dessert First month over on my Wordpress blog (username Wallflour Girl), too, if anyone is interested in leaving comments or joining in over there.
Below the cut is a list of each National Day theme--I hope you check it out! This could be a fun way to do some community bonding, get some bomb baking done, and wow our friends and each other to boot.

EDIT: To everyone to whom I replied with a link to my blog entry and the signup form, I want to apologize if you felt unnecessarily harassed by my external linking. I was looking for an easy way to organize this and it didn't occur to me that it might be a sensitive issue. Sorry! Not that I don't still think it's a helpful idea, but I'd hate to push it on anybody who isn't in this community for that sort of thing. That being said, I've finally found the "edit post" button here and will forge ahead with this helping organize this challenge on bakebakebake. Cheers!

Here's something for those of us who want ice cream without "bad stuff" in it:

I've also heard of ice cream that's made with mashed potatoes but haven't managed to track down a recipe for it yet.

I don't have an own blog (mainly due to no time), so I think I'd like to stay within bakebakebake. But you're welcome to link my lj entry to your blog!
Again, thanks for organising, this is brilliant and I'm really looking forward to it!!
I've got about 3 cups of frozen raspberries that I picked earlier this month, so at I think at least one raspberry recipe is going to get done. Lemon juice day is tempting as well.
There is one thing I have to say though; IMO, there is no recipe better than just eating an actual Creamsicle on a hot day. Good luck to whoever tries that challenge!
By the way, I *love* your icon!

The only food I've seen for August 13th is Filet Mignon Day; technically baking, with the pastry and all that? Maybe? Or not.
