Bacon-maple [choc-chip] Cookies!

I saw these linked on Tastespotting last week, and I wasn't going to let the opportunity to make them slip by, so I bought some streaky bacon and crisped the hell out of it on the grill!

The original recipe is from Cooking During Stolen Moments, and it turned out great! They're a bit like the Alton Brown Chewey/Thin cookies, but with added maple-bacony goodness :)

I took half the recipe aside and added chocolate chips too, as an experiment - which worked really well. The milk chocolate goes really well with the bacon, as anyone who has tried bacon-chocolate will know.

More pictures, all by longpig, who helped/ate batter:

Wow, that seems like a weird taste sensation.

I've had bacon with sweet things like honey, maple syrup or chocolate before, so they're not that weird to me. The sweet and salty tastes really set each other off!

They didn't take long to make at all, and I wasn't really rushing. No more than 3 hours, start to scratch, and the recipe's really easy.

Sounds interesting!

I went to a restaurant that served bacon pancakes--it was awesome!

Bacon does go really well with pancakes. My wife longpig is Canadian, and it's pretty common there to have bacon and maple syrup with pancakes, because it's friggin' delicious :V

There was a lot of fuss over these cookies a few years ago as a result of this blog:

I've made these cookies 3 or 4 times and they are always a HUGE hit. (well, some people thing they are weird, but most people like them.)
