I've been meaning to make these for a while... finally got around to it!
found here, posted by [info]loopedbusrides

1/2 cup butter
1 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking powder

1 pkg cream cheese (room temperature)
1/4 cup sugar
1 egg

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour an 8 inch square pan.
2. In a large saucepan, melt 1/2 cup butter. Remove from heat, and stir in sugar, eggs, and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Beat in 1/3 cup cocoa, 1/2 cup flour, salt, and baking powder. Spread batter into prepared pan.
3. In another bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar and egg till smooth.
4. Pour brownie batter into pan, then scoop dollops of cream cheese batter and drop on top of brownie batter. Swirl with spoon/toothpick.
5. Bake in preheated oven for 35 minutes. Do not overcook. Cool after baking, and store in fridge overnight for easy cut-up!

(Once again, I hope my LJ cut works...)

OK, confession. Your LJ name begged for a peek at your page--gorgeous sterling/star/pearls! You should be selling this stuff. Love it.

hahaha thank you so much! I actually do have a small Etsy shop, but I make a ton of jewelry just for myself... it gets kind of out of hand sometimes xD

Is that an eight-ounce package of cream cheese?
jewelparadise 22nd-Jul-2010 12:32 am (UTC)
ah! sorry for not specifying - we did indeed use an 8oz package. thanks for pointing that out!

I never can get mine to look like the picture lol.
jewelparadise 23rd-Jul-2010 05:12 am (UTC)
ah well, if it's any consolation, my friend was the one who did the swirling... I don't think I'm very good at making beautiful baked goods xD but when it comes down to it, deliciousness makes up for any visual imperfections!

Cheater! lol. I always like things to look nice and get kinda upset if they don't. No one else cares as long as it tastes good. Ahhhh, the life of a baker lol.

Ok, I've made two batches and I'm not sure what it is. The brownie between the bottom and the cheesecake doesn't set up and is kinda runny. Any idea what it is?
jewelparadise 25th-Jul-2010 07:49 am (UTC)
oh dear! sorry to hear they're giving you trouble :[ hmmm.... are you using a brownie mix? maybe that means the baking times differ (as in, by the time the cheesecake part is done, the brownie isn't cooked through yet.) or could it be just that the outside is baking faster than the inside? in which case I think that might be minimized with a larger pan (and therefore a thinner bar overall) or perhaps switching up the pan's placement in the oven. I'm not sure, though; those would just be my hypotheses.

I have a feeling these taste just as amazing as they look!
jewelparadise 24th-Jul-2010 12:16 am (UTC)
thanks! they're definitely quite yummy :D

I made these yesterday (gluten free version) and brought them into work today--lots of munching going on here and commentary like--'you can make these again, ok?' The only thing I did differently was add chocolate chips and walnuts--it's that decadent gene, you know...;-) I'd post a picture, but there aren't enough left on the plate. Next time! Thanks again--you made an officeful of people very happy..
