I've been a frequent here but I've never posted till now.
Today was the first time I tried baking biscotti (I did cinnamon sugar raisin & double chocolate chunk).

So.. I wanted to find something simple, dry (because I fail at stuff like pies) and that could be kept for a period of time. So I thought to myself, why not that? Well, the bake turned out great! They were light, crunchy and full of flavour. Weren't too sweet either and they go really well with a hot cuppa coffee. A perfect "less-sinful" afternoon snack. :)

those look beautiful! do you have a specific recipe you use?

Thank you! Nope not really just some recipes I sourced from cookbooks.

This is the recipe I used for the cinnamon sugar ones.. I added in the raisins and also cut the sugar by about 30% :)

Thank you! I'm quite an amateur baker myself.. biscotti's aren't really that difficult to make.. You should try! :)

Ohh, I guess it's either you baked them for too long or there was too much flour / too little butter sugar mixture. Try adding some canola oil to make em' moist. :)

I made biscotti last night for exactly the same reasons--why make a dozen 250-calorie cupcakes that will be stale in a day when you can have a 50-calorie biscotti that's just made to be with a cup of cafe au lait...yum. Yours look absolutely yummy...I tried out Cooking Light's lemon-white chocolate recipe and they turned out great, with a mysterious anise flavor. Hooray for biscotti!

They're so perfect for a warm day's or evening's baking, too. Baking at a low temperature satisfies that "MUST BAKE" drive, but doesn't heat up the house too much.

I just finished making these (just the cinnamon sugar version) and they are just delightful! I've never seen a cup of coffee look as happy as when I dunked one of these babies into it, haha. Thank you!
